Mistrial
By Jennifer Sanders
Sitting quietly
all alone,
no people texting
on a phone.
Calling order
and arise,
take your oath
with no cries.
Sharing info
questions asked,
civic duty
you are tasked.
Chosen few
charges stated,
television law
is overrated.
Lawyers stand
up then down,
witnesses come
from all around.
Evidence shown
all provided,
out of line
to get chided.
Defense completes
the prosecution rests,
jury excused
feels like a test.
Evidence lacking
some in doubt,
tied decision
jury’s out.

I really like the flow of this how you kept each line 2-3 words!
I love the mechanical effect that you created here about a process that determine’s the fate of people’s lives. It’s a personal thing, but you highlighted the potential lack of humanity in the process.
