Who am I,

but a servant of God?

I am a sinner.

I am not worthy.

How could He love me

With all he can see?

I always plan to change,

But time and time again

My habits catch up to me,

My thoughts stray,

My tongue doesn’t watch what I say,

My heart forgets.

How could I forget?

How could I lose my focus

On something so important?

I am a fraud.

But He loves me.

Why?

He says I am good,

I am His masterpiece,

I am loved.

So, why can’t I just listen?

Why can’t I do good?

I think I’m good.

Maybe?

What makes me good?

I don’t know.

Make me good.

Show me your power.

Make me strong

Enough to change,

To dream,

To last.

I want to be worthy

Of His love for me.

  • I feel this! Even Paul questioned why he did what he shouldn’t do and didn’t do what he should. Beautiful poem. You are not alone!

  • We so much want to be worthy of HIS love and grace, but HE says we are worthy. Sometimes I ask myself why I struggle with this too. Beautiful!

  • Robbie, I believe that many of us have felt very much the same. Your poem words it well, the doubt, the fear, the comfort, all of the things.

  • This is a beautifully honest and heartfelt reflection that truly captures your feelings of doubt and hope. You might consider adding some vivid imagery or metaphors to further enhance the emotional depth and make your message even more powerful. I love it. Thank you for sharing it!

  • Focus, focus, focus on what you can work with: “He says I am good,

    I am His masterpiece,

    I am loved”

You can meet those expectations you have agreed to.

  • Robbie, please let your voice be heard! Shame follows a lot of us when it comes to questioning God, and it is isolating and loney. I strongly believe it is imperative to know – to be shown/to hear I am (we/they are) not alone in this aspect and cannot be estranged from Him. Your honesty and vunerability is refreshing. Thank you for submitting this piece.
